EA UW discussion groups and courses

Let us know what interests you, with no commitment to take part. Once we have a suitable group and moderators, we will arrange dates together. We cannot yet guarantee that a group will start soon.

Materials are in English. Discussions are in Polish; if a participant does not speak Polish, we will switch to English.

Would you prefer to join a programme outside UW?

You can apply directly to the Effective Altruism Foundation’s Polish programme or CEA’s English-language courses, without waiting for a UW group. Dates and admission are set by each organiser; every application is separate.

BlueDot Impact also offers English-language courses in AI safety, AI governance and biosecurity. Apply separately, directly with the organiser.

Courses

You can choose more than one.

Introductory programme — five meetings

Five discussions on helping effectively: global health, animal welfare and risks to our future. Read short texts, then discuss them in a small group. We will arrange dates and format after collecting interest.

  1. What does it mean to help effectively?
  2. Differences in impact
  3. Impartiality, animals, and difficult ideas
  4. Longtermism and existential risks
  5. Your path to impact

  • Start by expressing interest, without choosing dates.
  • When a group is ready, we will send a separate form with available dates.
  • About 1–2 h of reading before each session, 1.5 h of discussion at it.
  • At least 4 of 5 sessions – the program works as a whole.

Expressing interest does not reserve a place. You can also ask about the introductory program run by Effective Altruism Poland.

Groups have 6–8 participants.
